Overview

PayPal has been revolutionising global commerce for over two decades with innovative experiences that make moving money, selling and shopping simple, seamless, personalised and secure. To showcase its latest product features (Multi-Currency Checkout, Mobile Payments and Cross-Border Debit Deposit Service), PayPal needed an idea to educate small and medium business (SMB) owners while building trust in these new tools.

The Challenge

How do we create a tailored brand experience that educates SMBs, builds trust in PayPal’s features and helps them succeed in the digital economy?

The Solution

Using gamification and aligning with PayPal’s strategic positioning, “Everyone, Everywhere,” I developed an engaging and interactive campaign called ‘Let’s Help Out a Pal.’ This fun initiative introduces SMB owners to PayPal’s new features while building familiarity and trust with the platform.

How it works?

1. Launch the Scenario:
Through social media, we showcase a relatable business challenge and invite viewers to “Help Out a Pal” by using one of PayPal’s new features to solve the problem for a small business owner like them.

2. Interactive Game:
After clicking the call-to-action button, viewers are directed to a microsite featuring a quick and fun interactive game. The scenario pops up and players solve it using one of PayPal’s new features.

3. Win and Share:
Upon completing the game, participants earn a digital certification badge showcasing their newly gained skills. They can share the badge on social media for bragging rights and the chance to win exclusive PayPal themed merchandise.
